I love the privilege of capturing the life of someone's beloved in one of my Lovespoons. This bespoke spoon was a joy to carve, honouring the life of one man who is a son, a father and a grandfather.
Hand carved from one piece of iroko wood, this commission is to celebrate the 70th birthday of a grandfather. The three balls in the cage represent his three children; they are safely enclosed within four pillars to signify a love that is secure and safe.
The 'heart roots' represent his love for family and country; and the four rings of metal represent his four grandchildren bound to the roots themselves.
Hidden within the grandfather clock is a secret draw that when pulled out displays verses from his favourite cynghanedd/poem.
